The first Hungarian real estate investment funds received licenses under the "Golden Visa" residence permit program Hungary for investments
Since July 1, 2024, the Golden Visa program has been in effect in Hungary, allowing investors to apply for a Hungarian residence permit for investment for 10 years, with the possibility of extending it for another 10 years. Many investors were waiting for Hungarian real estate funds to receive licenses from the Central Bank of Hungary and other government agencies. In October 2024, the first investment funds received the necessary licenses, paving the way for investors to invest and obtain a residence permit through the Golden Visa program in Hungary.
The minimum investment amount in a Hungarian real estate fund is 250,000 euros. The original version of the program assumes that the funds will be directed to a fund registered with the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) and licensed to participate in the program.
The Hungarian Golden Visa program, the Hungarian Guest Investor Program, was launched on July 1, 2024, and from then on, investors could apply for a D visa with a commitment to invest in the future. Investors can now complete the investment process in one of the first Hungarian real estate funds. Investors can invest and apply for Hungarian residence permits for themselves and their families.
Currently, several more Hungarian real estate fund managers are in the process of obtaining licenses, and new licenses are expected to be issued in late 2024 and early 2025, creating additional investment opportunities.
