The client attempted to obtain a Hungarian residence permit for remote workers on his own but received a rejection from the immigration authorities. The challenge was not only the negative decision but also the need to correct mistakes made during the initial application.

Initial situation
Our employee was living in Hungary under “family reunification” status, which was issued for only 8 months without the right to work. Under local law, with this status, he could not be officially employed by our company. Therefore, we began the process of changing the basis for his residence permit and legally formalizing the employment relationship.
Stages of the solution- Residence permit extension
- In the summer of 2024, the employee independently applied for a residence permit extension on family grounds. To speed up the process, we sent several requests to the migration service in August. In September, the decision came: the residence permit was extended for 5 years, but without the right to work.
- Work permit application
- We prepared a complete set of documents, including a work permit, and in October 2024, we submitted an application to change the status of the residence permit — now with the right to work.

On March 1, 2024, our client received a positive decision on the basis of an FNL residence permit!🎉
A young man contacted IST Hungary about changing his status from Fehér kártya (White Card) - digital nomad status - to a new basis: financially independent person (type “other purposes”).
Prior to this, the client had already lived in Hungary for several months.
The documents were submitted at the end of October 2023, and at the end of the year there was a request for additional information. We went to the migration service twice to extend the stay, as the consideration of the case was suspended for two months due to the migration service's transition to working under new legislation for third-country nationals without special status in the country.
On March 1, 2024, after a long wait, the client received a Hungarian residence permit for one year as a financially independent person on the basis of “other purposes.”
While waiting for his residence permit status to change, the client's plans changed and he wants to change the basis from FNL to business, with subsequent servicing of his new Hungarian company by our accounting department, arrange banking consulting support with us and full support for his business by our company IST Hungary.

Ilya and his colleague approached our Hungarian consulting company, IST Hungary, to open commercial accounts at one of the Hungarian banks for their business.
The bank spent three weeks checking the Estonian company (during this time, we had public holidays in Hungary, otherwise the check would have been completed faster).

- We finally made it to the coffee shop of our partners, whom we helped move to Hungary and transfer their business there!
The guys recently opened a coffee shop in the center of Budapest.
We began our collaboration with Coffeetuned in the summer of 2021. At first, everything went as usual: we planned everything, developed a roadmap and a plan for moving the business and two families with small children to Hungary.
Before that, only Alexander had been to Hungary as a child on a school trip, while Evgeny had never been to Europe.

Beginning
